1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to EDUCARE - FTC HAITI. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website https://educare-ftc.org and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform. EDUCARE HAITI reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. About EDUCARE - FTC HAITI

EDUCARE HAITI is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing STEM education in Haiti through the FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) program. We organize and manage robotics competitions, provide educational resources, and support schools and students participating in FTC Haiti championships. Our mission is to inspire and empower Haitian youth to become leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

3. User Accounts and Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features of the Platform, you may need to create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3.2 User Types and Access Levels

The Platform uses role-based access. Rights differ by role and assigned permissions:

  • EDUCARE Superadmin/Admin: Platform and program administration functions
  • Judges: Competition evaluation functions and related access
  • Coaches: School/team management and participant supervision functions
  • Team Members/Participants: team participation and assigned workflows
  • Public submitters: volunteer, media, and school-interest submissions may be accepted without portal account creation

3.3 Minor Protection

For participants under 18 years of age, parental or legal guardian consent is required. Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring their child's use of the Platform and ensuring compliance with these Terms.

3.4 Account and Invitation Integrity

When using invite codes or invitation links, you agree to:

  • Use only links/codes issued to you or your institution for authorized purposes
  • Not share, resell, reuse, or attempt to bypass single-use invitation controls
  • Provide truthful identity and contact information
  • Maintain secure credentials and report suspicious account activity immediately

4. Acceptable Use Policy

4.1 Permitted Uses

You may use the Platform to:

  • Register and manage team participation in FTC competitions
  • Access program information, schedules, and resources
  • Submit required documentation and forms
  • View competition results and team standings
  • Communicate with program administrators and coaches
  • Access educational materials and support resources

4.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Post inappropriate, offensive, or discriminatory content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform or other accounts
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Platform
  • Collect or harvest user data without permission
  • Use the Platform for commercial purposes without authorization
  • Share account credentials with others
  • Submit forged, misleading, or unauthorized documents
  • Attempt to download restricted documents without required acknowledgment
  • Bypass role-based visibility restrictions for users, schools, or teams

5. FTC Program Requirements

Participants in EDUCARE - FTC HAITI programs must also comply with:

  • FIRST® Policies: All official FIRST® Tech Challenge rules, regulations, and code of conduct
  • Youth Protection: Background check requirements for coaches and adult volunteers
  • Gracious Professionalism®: Upholding FIRST® core values of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship
  • Team Registration: Completing official team registration and paying required fees
  • Safety Requirements: Following safety protocols during competitions and events
  • Documentation: Submitting required forms, consents, and acknowledgments

6. Intellectual Property Rights

6.1 EDUCARE Content

All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, images, software, and design, is the property of EDUCARE HAITI or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without express written permission.

6.2 FIRST® Trademarks

FIRST®, FIRST® Tech Challenge, FTC, and related logos are registered trademarks of For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST®). Use of these marks must comply with FIRST® brand guidelines.

6.3 User-Generated Content

By uploading or submitting content to the Platform (photos, videos, documents, etc.), you grant EDUCARE HAITI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute such content for program purposes, including promotion and documentation. You represent that you have the right to grant this license and that your content does not infringe on third-party rights.

6.4 Document Governance

Certain documents are shared with restricted audiences and may require acknowledgment before download. You must respect assigned visibility settings and may not redistribute restricted documents without authorization.

7. Media and Photography Release

By participating in EDUCARE - FTC HAITI events and competitions, participants consent to being photographed or recorded. EDUCARE HAITI may use such media for:

  • Program promotion and marketing
  • Event documentation and archival purposes
  • Website, social media, and publication content
  • Reports to sponsors and stakeholders

Parents/guardians may opt out of media consent for minors by contacting program administrators. We will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests while acknowledging that complete exclusion may not be possible in group settings.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

8.1 Platform "As Is"

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. EDUCARE HAITI does not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

8.2 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EDUCARE HAITI, its directors, officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or participation in FTC programs. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, revenue, or opportunities.

8.3 Assumption of Risk

Participation in robotics activities and competitions involves inherent risks. Participants acknowledge and assume these risks. Parents/guardians must sign appropriate waivers and release forms before minors can participate.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EDUCARE HAITI, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your use of the Platform
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your participation in FTC programs and events

10. Suspension, Termination, and Enforcement

EDUCARE HAITI may suspend, restrict, investigate, or terminate access where there is suspected abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, unsafe conduct, repeated policy violations, or misuse of invitation/document workflows. We may also preserve relevant records where needed for safeguarding, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ends immediately. Terms that should survive termination remain in effect, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification provisions.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Haiti. Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Platform shall first be addressed through good-faith discussion. If unresolved, disputes may proceed through arbitration or appropriate legal proceedings in Haiti, subject to applicable law.

12. Changes to Terms

EDUCARE HAITI may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on the Platform and updating the "Last Updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated via email. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

By using the EDUCARE - FTC HAITI Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. You also acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

Mission Statement: EDUCARE HAITI's mission is to inspire young people in Haiti to become science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build skills in robotics, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them for success in higher education and careers in STEM fields.
